2018 BSCAI CEO Seminar Preview

Collie King

The BSCAI CEO Seminar is always a great way to take a step back and get others’ viewpoints of what is happening in our industry. This is never a “salesy” event, which is a big plus. It is truly an atmosphere of learning that allows you to hear it straight from the people who know the most. I always use this event to get a better feel for what economic pressures BSCs are facing, what kind of mergers & acquisitions are on the horizon, and what BSCs are doing to grow their businesses in general.

Attendees are not typically your huge public organizations. Instead, you’re joined by dozens of mid-size, regional operations, and there are several opportunities to break into subgroups and have great conversations about what’s happening in the industry. As such, I have built relationships with so many people at this event that have turned into long-lasting friendships.

BSCAI will always bring in a big name for this event, and this year is no different. Here are the speakers I’m looking forward to the most:

Stephen M.R. Covey

Stephen-MR-CoveySon of the late Stephen R. Covey, Stephen M.R. Covey has followed in his father’s footsteps as an author, public speaker, and business consultant. Covey’s speech is called “The Speed of Trust,” which is also the title of his book. Covey emphasizes the power of trust in managing employee relationships in his consulting practice. We all know turnover is a huge problem for many BSCs, so I’m excited to hear what Covey has to say about creating a culture of trust and how it can increase employee happiness thereby reducing retention.

Todd Hopkins

ToddHopkins.jpgTodd is very well-known within the industry as he has built one of the most established and respected brands in this space. His speech is called “10 Guiding Principles for Stress Less Business and Life.” One of the great things about the CEO event is that it’s always in a serene location, which is the perfect backdrop to take a step back and meditate on the sometimes simple things in the way of having less stress in our lives.
